Snapchat: ��ݮӰ��’s New Spectacle

��ݮӰ�� is expanding its social media presence and capabilities with the use of Snapchat Spectacles. Since the launch of ��ݮӰ��’s Snapchat a little over a year ago, the platform has consistently gathered the University’s fastest-growing social media following. Excited to connect with current students and the students of tomorrow, ��ݮӰ�� has recently added Snapchat Spectacles to its arsenal. These “snap specs” are sunglasses with cameras and sensors built directly into the frame.

How it works

An LED light indicator prominently displays when the wearer is taking the 10-second videos which are recorded at the touch of a button. The Spectacles are connected via a smartphone, and the videos recorded are then uploaded to ��ݮӰ��’s Snapchat Story. Snapchat has over 173 million active global daily users, and the Spectacles will help ��ݮӰ�� utilize Snapchat on the go. This wearable technology gives us an innovative way to reach hundreds of prospective and current students already using Snapchat on a daily basis.

What to Expect

The Spectacles have already been in use over Homecoming weekend where we captured footage of alumni and current students participating in the day’s events and on the field at ��ݮӰ��’s Holmgren Athletic Complex. Student ambassadors will also wear the Spectacles during select campus tours, an excellent way for prospective students to engage in tours that they might not be able to attend. The opportunities are endless, and soon you may see “spec snaps” showcasing students, University events, or new programs like Catalyst 606__.

It’s launch week! We at University Marketing and Communications have been working hard on a new Northpark.edu for several months, and we wanted to share with you a few features we think you’ll love.

1. Mobile-Responsive Design.
First and foremost: the new website works on your phone. No more squinting, flipping your phone horizontal, and trying to zoom in. The site responds beautifully to different devices, so you can easily navigate to all the resources you need—on the fly.

2. Reimagined My ��ݮӰ��.
When we kicked off this project, we held meetings to hear from faculty, staff, and students. We asked questions like, “What was most frustrating on the website? What were you looking for in the new site?”

We heard you loud and clear: Navigating to your email, WebAdvisor, Moodle, and other vital resources was difficult. My ��ݮӰ�� was a major source of frustration.

Introducing . . . ! We spent a lot of time prioritizing, reorganizing, and decluttering. Then we represented it in a visual, clean way.

You can now select your profile as Student, Faculty, or Staff Member, and you’ll be served the resources that are most useful to you. Your browser should even remember who you are.

We hope this makes your busy NPU life just a little bit easier.

3. Awesome. Content.
While our on-campus constituents were a major priority while redesigning the website, our number-one goal was to help prospective students get to know ��ݮӰ�� more easily—and consider it as a choice for their college education.

To that end, we put together some pretty cool new content to roll out with the new site, which you can enjoy too:

4. Find Your Faculty.
We’ve put together a streamlined , where you can get to know (and easily reach) ��ݮӰ��’s accomplished professors and professionals.

Alongside the website project, we’ve also been rebranding the University. You’ve probably seen our . This website is our first major, public rollout of the new brand. We hope you enjoy the visual identity and feel it’s a great representation of NPU.
