Why Pursue a Master of Science in Athletic Training?

As the healthcare sphere continues to expand rapidly, so does the need for qualified workers. A master of science in athletic training degree will equip you to meet this growing demand.

Beginning in 2022, the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) will require athletic trainers to be enrolled in a CAATE-accredited master’s program to sit for the BOC exam. To meet these standards, ²ÝݮӰÊÓ is now a fully accredited master’s program, supported by its commitment to a high-quality education with access to clinical experience, hands-on training, and seasoned faculty.

Students who have not yet completed a bachelor’s degree may apply to ²ÝݮӰÊÓ’s 3+2 accelerated master’s degree.

Real Life Application

Chicago is home to an active population, and is a hub for professional sports teams, world-class dance companies, and leading healthcare institutions. MSAT candidates are matched with career-building clinical internships, graduating with real-life applicable experience and a network of relationships.

The MSAT curriculum prepares students to pass their Board of Certification (BOC) exam while also focusing on five main areas:

  3. Immediate Care
  4. Rehabilitation

Hands-on Clinical Facilities

Students practice their skills and prepare for clinical practice in our dedicated athletic training education center—seamlessly transitioning from in-the-classroom learning to hands-on training.

Once in the lab, students use newly acquired skills and techniques.

Career Opportunities

Illinois ranks fourth in the U.S. for number of employed athletic trainers. In particular, Chicago, Naperville, and Arlington Heights have high numbers of working athletic trainers. (United States Department of Labor Statistics 2015).

Clinical and in-the-field job opportunities are plentiful. Graduates have careers serving:
